Game Recap

The Waggener Wildcats opened up post-season play with a 47-38 win over district foe Atherton. Thanks to a strong defensive effort, Waggener held a 15-11 advantage at the break. In the second half, the Wildcats’ offense came alive as they shot a blazing 53.8% from the field, highlighted by Junior Rosie Cipolla and Freshman Alexis Voll’s 3-point barrage. The Wildcats extended the lead to as many as 13, before withstanding a fourth quarter comeback by the Rebels. Junior Ne’zja Elliott dished out five assists and led all scorers with 20 points. Senior Tiara Biermacher and Voll pitched in nine points apiece. Junior La’sha Dunn grabbed 10 rebounds while Sophomore Melissa Chase had seven. Next up for the Wildcats is a date with Sacred Heart for the 27th District Championship. Tip off is at 6:00 pm on February 22.
